Mobility Service The main goal of eduroam project (Education Roaming) is to provide a mobility service for the European academic community. In Portugal, eduroam has been treated in the scope of the e-U Campus Virtual initiative, project partially funded by the Portuguese government, through the “Plano de Acção para a Sociedade do Conhecimento” (POSC) program, coordinated by UMIC - Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento, and developed and maintained by FCCN - Fundação para a Computação Científica Nacional. The e-U Campus Virtual aims to massify the access to on-line academic content, and the use of wireless access technologies through the development of Services, Contents, Applications and Mobile Communication Networks, inside and outside the University, to academic students and teachers, that stimulate and assist the production, the access and the share of knowledge. This initiative aims to join all the academic networks off all teaching academic schools, creating by that an "anytime, anywhere" academic network. The interest of spreading eduroam to other communities outside European borders has been more and more evident; having already, as a result of that growing interest, the connection of the first non European eduroam in Australia.
